The Spring For Colors Sale is in the books. A large crowd gathered at the Walworth County Fairgrounds in Elkhorn on May 10th for this exceptional gathering of animals.
The averages for the day were as outstanding as the weather. The high breed average was the Milking Shorthorns, which averaged an even $5,000. The Brown Swiss portion of the sale averaged $4,617, while the Holsteins brought in an average of $4,187. The Ayrshire grouping averaged $3,391 and the Guernseys $3,341. The Jerseys rounded out the sale with a $2,819 average.
Topping the day at $35,000 was Lot 4, Top Acres Peppy Wizella, the Junior Champion from the 2014 Ohio Spring Dairy Expo. Wizella is a Summer Yearling Chilli Pepper out of the 2013 All-AMerican Senior 3 Year Old, Top Acres Supreme Wizard-ET EX 91, from the heart of the Whizzbang family.
Second high seller for the day at $12,500 was Lot 95, the Junior Champion Milking Shorthorn from the 2014 New York Spring Show. Hard Core Premium Fire Maid EXP is a September 2013 Springville Logic Premium daughter from 2E 92 Springhill Firepwer-ET.
Third high seller was the second high Brown Swiss at $11,250. Lot 55, New-View Ollay Wisp was the second Fall Calf at the 2014 New York Spring Show. She is a New View Wonder Ollay from EX 91 Brothers Three HP Widdle-ET, second dam is Wisper 2E 92.
The high selling Guernsey was Lot 71 at $8,500, Adams Creek HP Pie Bryn-ET, a December American Pie daughter of EX 92 Adams Creek Mentor Beyonce.
Topping the Ayrshire sale was Lot 84 at $7,200, Grand-View HP Dreamer Duo, a March 2014 Nexus Dreamer daughter from EX 91 Grand-View Burdette Diamond, the 2012 Reserve All-American Junior 3 Year Old.
The top selling Holstein was Lot 100 at $7,000. Erbacres HP Delana-ET is a December 2012 Goldsun from an EX 93 2E Lyster, with 4 more EX dams, back to Snow-N Denises Dellia EX 95 2E.
The high selling Jersey was Lot 112 for $6,100, Partee HP Lovely-ET, a March 2013 Rock Ella Impression daughter of Homeridge FP Lisa 2 EX 92.
