Milk Futures, Cash Dairy Mixed

Class III milk futures at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange Monday were mixed on spread adjustments ahead of the Global Dairy Trade event. October was up $.04 at $16.76, November was $.02 higher, December was $.05 lower at $15.72, January was down $.04 at $15.39.

Cash cheese blocks were $.015 higher at $1.715. Three loads were sold, including two at $1.715. The last uncovered offer was for one load at $1.72. Barrels were up $.005 at $1.685. Six loads were sold, including one at $1.685. The last unfilled bid was on one load at $1.675. The last uncovered offer was for one load at $1.70.

Butter was unchanged at $2.375. The last unfilled bid was on one load at $2.355. The last uncovered offer was for one load at $2.4275.

Nonfat dry milk was $.0125 lower at $.76. Seven loads were sold, including three at $.76. The last unfilled bid was on two loads, also at $.76.

Cooperatives Working Together announced the acceptance of four requests for export assistance from a member co-op. The assistance covers 965,625 pounds of cheddar cheese headed to Asia, the Middle East, and Oceania with delivery slated for November 2017 through January 2018.

According to HighGround Dairy, milk collections in September by Fonterra members in New Zealand were down 2.1% on the year, the second consecutive month with a year to year decline.
