The DAT People's Choice Question of the Week: Steel and Aluminum Tariffs
The recent announcement that steel and aluminum tariffs would be removed on goods coming from Canada and Mexico may be good news for the dairy industry, if Mexico, a big buyer of U.S. cheese, lifts its tariffs on U.S. dairy in response. Should this occur, how much impact on milk prices do you think it will have?

I am currently consuming a 2 pound block of cheese, Costco? that has calcium deposits in it. Tastes just fine, but those calcium deposits indicate that it is old cheese. Until we get our stored inventory more manageable, any tariff reaction will be minor, IMHO. Lower inventory, lessen production, and prices can turn rapidly.

Prices will not change, the processors are making billions on our cheap milk and as long as big dairies are willing to over supply milk we will not get out of the mess we are in.
