A Visit to Brookview Farms
Russell Gammon of Jersey Canada and Bobby and Melissa Hart of North Adams, MI recently made a stop at Brookview Farms, Fremont Ohio.

Owner Eric Havens gave a tour of some of the standouts in the Brookview herd.
Having recently classified, there were several cows to highlight.

Carter's Corner Shot Melody, VG-87. She has tons of embryo and bull contracts and has a first choice Destry selling in the Kingsmill sale and a choice Observer/Domain in the International Intrigue Sale.

A bookend of the barn is this EX-91 Hanoverhill Spirit.

Here is an VG-88 Windy-Knoll-View Primetime.

Russell stands next to an VG-88 SR 3 Stanhope Sovereign.

This is a fresh Roy JR 2. She goes back to the Lulu's at Hanoverhill and is owned with Howard-View Holsteins.

She is a VG-87 Lou out of Ricecrest Terry Tory EX-92.  In 361 days she has out 37471M 3.6F 1336F 3.2P 1195P.

This cow is a VG-87 first lactation Durham out of a 92pt Gibson.

A JR3 Advent granddaughter of Stelbro Renita Ranger who was grand at Madison.

An 88pt Dundee out of an EX-92 Councelor.

First lactation VG Dundee.

A 87pt first lactation Valley River Rubens Redman.

Here is a VG-87 Drake on her second lactation.

This is another VG first lactation Dundee.

This 91pt Kite is a five year old and is the 8th generation VG or EX.

This EX Astronomical was grand at the 2009 Ohio District 9 show.

Although she wasn't all shined up like the girls in the barn, Brookview E Spirit Lilac was still worthy of a picture as an EX cow at 5 years old.

Russell was excited to be visiting the place where the famed Brookview Tony Charity was bred. And the closest he could come to Charity was standing in the stall of Charity's dam, Leaderwood Elevation Charmer, and that was enough.

After a tour of the cows, there was the history tour of the walls at Brookview which included this famous shot of Charity with R. Peter Heffering.

At the end of the tour, everyone gathered for one last picture. L to R: Russell, Eric with Garrett on his lap, Carrie with Grant and Bobby.

Thanks DAT for taking us to places we all dream of visiting but never quite find the time to.

Bambi/Gene: You are the best! An 80 year old man at the Ohio Sale tried to convince me that we were the same age and we'd known each other for 50 years so I really needed your sentence! Dallas: You are almost 100% right! Breathe easy as Eric is so wise beyond his years that even two industry titans like Princess Bobby and I could not put him off his path/track! These cows are so nice even a Jerseyaholic can recognize their excellence! You go Eric and ownderful family and cows! A confirmed fan of H H R Spirit! As Garret's shirt says: Let's get up and GO!!

What a great opportunity to see one of the true young cowmen in the breed and his nice family. One of my fondest memories is when Ed and I had the Brookview Dispersal many years ago. Eric comes from great stock and he's already making his own mark on the Holstein and Jersey breeds. My only hope now is that Russell and Bobby have not put Eric too far off course.
