The World Ayrshire Event Sale held October 1st at World Dairy Expo was a great success! Thanks to the consignors, buyers and marketing committee for supporting this great Ayrshire promotional event.
Ten live animals sold with an average of $5,860. The high seller was Lot 1, the Reagan Sr. 3-Year-Old consigned by Steve McDonald, Princeton, IL. Marilie Reagan Mertie-ET was fresh in July and projected to over 21,000M. She has a pedigree with generations of show winners and high type. “Mertie” sold for $10,200 to Braxton, Easton and Kashton Steinlage of Lawler, IA.
Hall’s V-Lane Spectacle-ET followed, selling for $9,900 for consignors Hall’s Ayrshires and V-Lane Farm of Cushing, OK. She is a Reynolds daughter out of the well-known Mowry’s Burdette Summer, EX-95, and 3x Unanimous All-American with records over 35,000M. Spectacle was purchased by Levi and Ashton Wilcox of Narysburg, NY.
The four picks of flushes averaged $6,463. The high selling pick of flush was the Burdette x Toppglen Wishful Thinking group of calves born in September 2023. “Wishful” is an EX-94 2x All-American with records to 9-00 305D 34,157M 3.7% 1270F 3.2% 1103P. The gavel struck off at $9,000 with Jesse and Kiley Muse of Etoile, KY as the winning bidders.
A pick of flush of Reynolds or Kingsire x Carvella was consigned by the Bricker Family of Salem, OH and sold for $7,000 to Jeremy and Monica Schwittay of Peshtigo, WI. “Carvella” is no stranger to the colored shavings. She’s EX-95, was the All-American Component Merit Cow in 2022 and has records over 32,000M.
Four packages of embryos sold with an average of $836 per embryo. The top selling embryos for $1,050 per embryo were also out of “Carvella”. Peter Vail of Englewood, FL consigned the embryos sired by Distinction. Rhonda Winkler of Woodbine, MD was the buyer.
Mowry’s Burdette Summer, EX-95, took center stage again when her Barclay embryos sold. The embryo package was consigned by Gene Hall Jr. of Cushing, OK. Jeremy and Monica Schwittay of Peshtigo, WI are the new owners of the embryos with the final bid of $950 per embryo.
