National Brown Swiss Convention - Day 2




The National Brown Swiss Convention held in Green Bay, Wisconsin and hosted by the Wisconsin Brown Swiss Association completed day 2. The day started with a breakfast and then awards, a complete list of awards and winners will be published in the July/August Brown Swiss Bulletin. Here are a few highlights:

2023 Living Lifetime Cow Award - ECM was Jenlar Dynasty Treat with a lifetime ECM 433,802. She is owned by Larry and Jennifer Meyer, Chilton, Wisconsin.

J.P Eves Trophy winner was Hilltop Acres Lucky Denim with 4-09 305d 3x 53,150m 4.9% 2,608f 3.0% 1,588p. Owned by Tanner Mashek, Calmar, Iowa. Denim was also the Protein Award winner.

The H.R. Searles Trophy was earned by Nor-Bert Carter Lexus ETV with 4-02 305d 3x 39,690m 7.0% 2,779f 3.7% 1,478. Owned by Dalton, Dillon and Breanne Freemen, Bremen, Indiana.

The Vernon C. Hull Total Performance Award was earned by Dutch-Marie Dundee Allie with a point total of 288. Her production record is 4-04 305d 2x 39,150m 4.1% 1,603f 3.5% 1,351p and Allie was the Total Performance Winner at the International and Southeast National shows. She is owned by Hadleigh, Ezra, Kenna Jones and Kelly Jo Manion, Edmonton, Kentucky.

Allie was also the winner of the Cow for all Seasons Award with a ECM of 43,896m and she was Type and Production winner at the International Brown Swiss Show.

Shortly after the awards were presented the 2024 Annual Meeting was called to order. A complete summary of the meeting will be published in the July/August Brown Swiss Bulletin. Highlights include election of members of the Board of Directors, President and Vice-President, they are:

Lunch was taken and then the Brown Swiss Historical Society Awards were presented. Active Master Breeder was Shelburne Farms, Historical Master Breeder was Sunshine Genetics, Inc. and Hall of Fame awards were Ira Inman and Orville Kurtz.

The afternoon was filled with the ST Genetics National Junior Heifer Show with Ryan Krohlow, Poynette, Wisconsin placing the classes.
