SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Frederick County Dairy Princess Ella
Fell was named the 62nd Maryland Dairy Princess, and Upper
Chesapeake Dairy Princess Allyson Knott of Harford County was chosen as
Alternate Maryland Dairy Princess on Friday, August 30, at the Maryland State
Fair in Timonium, Md. Together they will represent Maryland’s more than 300 dairy
farmers and engage consumers at the grassroots level with positive dairy
messages.
ADA North East supports the Maryland
Dairy Princess program with funding, training and promotional resources through
dairy checkoff.
“Maryland’s hard-working dairy farmers
will be well represented with these outstanding promoters,” said ADA North East
CEO John Chrisman. “I was so impressed with their industry knowledge and
confidence and I commend them, and their families, for their dedication to the
industry.”
Fell, the daughter of Valerie and
Joesph Fell, is a junior at Middletown High school, president of her FFA
chapter and a Diamond Clover Award winner in 4-H. She takes projects in dairy,
horse and dogs, and excels in public speaking competitions. She works at Valley-Ho
Farm and South Mountain Creamery.
Knott, the daughter of Stacy and
Robert Knott, is active in North Harford High School FFA, participating in
public speaking, food science and veterinary science competitions, and helps
organize the chapter’s Ag Day events. She is the FFA representative on the
Harford County Farm Fair Board and works with Fawn View Farm.
Fell and Knott presented their
winning speeches at the contest. Eastern Shore Dairy Princess Caroline Kimball
received the Maryland Dairy Princess Scholarship and Washington County Dairy
Princess Brielle Long won the Best Milk Toast award. Numerous Dairy Misses,
ages 9 to 16, were introduced and represent all seven regions of the state.
The 2023-2024 Maryland Dairy Princess
Katie Jones crowned the new team that was selected by judges Linda Foreman,
Durham, N.C.; Caroline Novack of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and Kenny Bounds of Laurel,
Del. Denny Remsburg of Jefferson, Md., served as emcee. Outgoing Alternate
Maryland Dairy Princess Layla Shepard received Best Scrapbook and Incentive
awards.

In addition to Maryland, ADA North
East also supports the dairy promotion programs Pennsylvania, Delaware and
Virginia, and manages the New York and New Jersey dairy promotion programs.
