World Dairy Expo Judging Contest Results for College, Post-Secondary and 4-H

MADISON, WIS. – University of Minnesota finished first among 17 schools in the 103rd National Intercollegiate Dairy Cattle Judging Contest on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at World Dairy Expo®. The team finished with a score of 2,530 and added to their achievements by also being the high team for reasons. The team included Megan Meyer, Sarah Hagenow, and Megan Ratka and is coached by Dr. Les Hansen, Isaac Haagen, Eric Houdek, and Gabriella Houdek. Megan Meyer and Sarah Hagenow also placed fourth and fifth overall as individuals, respectively. Finishing second and third team overall were University of Wisconsin-Madison and Iowa State University, respectively. Other teams finishing in the top five include Purdue University and University of Wisconsin-River Falls.

Modesto Junior College came out on top as they secured the Overall Team, Overall Reasons Team, High Individual, and High Individual Reasons honors at the 34th International Post-Secondary Dairy Cattle Judging Contest. The team consisted of Logan Silveria, Lauryn Young, Jon Chapman, and Teresa Sousa, and coached by Nicole Morris. SUNY Cobleskill followed as the second-place team overall. To finish out the contest, The Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute, Michigan State Ag Tech, and Morrisville placed third through fifth, respectively. In the Practical Contest, Ohio State ATI places first overall followed by Iowa State University and Kansas State University placing second and third, respectively.

The New York team was comprised of Elise Donlick, Alexis Schultz, Mason Ziemba and Alysha Kuhn, coached by Dr. Douglas Waterman. The second-overall team, by a margin of 6 points, was the Florida team of Jaylee Heijkoop, Aubrey Cook and Abigail Michnowicz coached by Gene Holcomb. Wisconsin, Maryland and Indiana finished out the top five teams, respectively.
