DAT People's Choice Question of the Week: Using the Premier Sire in Your Herd?
World Dairy Expo was last week and when each breed show is complete the Premier Sire of each show is announced.
Does the winner of the Premier Sire for your breed at World Dairy Expo influence you to use that sire in your herd?

Only got one cow, but Kid Rock is hard to buy along with Joel. Joel being a JNS carrier doesn't do much for me either.

Depends on the situation. Delta Lambda is a great example of a bull who excels in both commercial and show environments. At this point most of us will have to use sons and grandsons as his semen is expensive and hard to get.

Nope. Premier sire at Madison does not impress me enough to use a bunch of semen. Sometimes they get there on the dominance of the heifer classes.

0% time when it’s the heifers but about 80% time for the milk cows. Yes for delta lambda. Unfortunately going to have to use his sons though unless on ivf.
