A Roof-Raising Day at Rob-Cri!
The Bob & Chris Barden farm, just east of Plover, WI
Robert and Christine Barden’s Raising the Roof Sale took place on a blustery, but sunny day in Plover, Wisconsin.  Co-managing the sale were Jim Hoskens Ltd. and Bill Stade Auction and Realty Company.  Bill Stade called the sale, while Jim Hoskens read the pedigrees.
The sale ring, ready for the sale to get underway.
Originally planning a dispersal next spring to begin their retirement, plans changed drastically when Mother Nature unleashed her fury in the form of a destructive tornado in May. While they decided to put off retirement, and have been working on the rebuilding process, the conclusion was reached that they had neither the feed available nor the facilities to get all the animals through a cold and blustery Wisconsin winter. The decision was made to sell the best members of the milking herd, and let the family take time to decide what path to take.

A celebration of Manitoba's showring success this summer
A display of photos of the damage the Barden family saw following the tornado on May 22, 2011
Despite the tragedies they've suffered, the Barden's continue on strong thanks to a strong support network, for which they are very grateful.
Bob & Chris Barden introduced their family to the crowd
Bob & Chris's parents were on hand today, and have recently celebrated 65 and 60 years of marriage, respectively.
Despite the stress and hardships they have endured, Rob-Cri Holsteins has also had the luck to taste some successes this summer. Winning the Wisconsin Holstein Futurity at the Wisconsin State Fair in August with a homebred Stormatic daughter, Rob-Cri Strmtic Manitoba-ET certainly brightened the outlook for the future. Manitoba is scored EX 90, and is the daughter of an EX Skybuck, and sold today as Lot 1. Manitoba wasn’t a one-hit wonder this summer, either. In addition to her futurity win, she was named Supreme Champion at the Central Wisconsin State Fair.
