All-American Jersey Sale Enjoys $8,804 Average

Louisville, KY--Jersey genetics were up for grabs at the 2013 All American Jersey Sale and the Pot O’ Gold sale at the North American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville, Kentucky on November 9th and 10th.

The tables were set with wine and cheese and Jersey breeders from all over North America were ready to bid on the offering gathered for the 2013 All American Jersey Sale. With Lynn Lee of Smyrna, Tennessee taking care of the auctioneer duties, the sale was off to a record setting pace where a total of 47 lots were sold for a record average of $8,804 and a gross of $413,800.

Missiska MacKenzie-ET was the high seller at $60,000. Consigned by Bard Pelletier of St. Armand, Quebec, the animal was purchased by Semex USA of Madison, Wisconsin.

For just a little less, Select Sires of Plain City, Ohio purchased the second highest seller, Jars of Clay Barnabas for $50,000. Banging in as the third highest seller was Kash in Fasttrack 40806-P-ET. She was purchased by River Valley Farm of Tremont, Illinois for $35,000 and consigned by Rancho Teresita Dairy of Tulare, California.

Cattle went to 14 different states including, Wisconsin, Ohio, Illinois, California, Texas, Oregon, Michigan, Louisiana, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Mississippi, North Carolina, Idaho and Missouri.

On November 9th, young Jersey enthusiasts had the chance to invest in top-notch genetics at a sale designed just for them; the Pot O’ Gold Sale. This specially designed sale is for juniors only, where they purchase a heifer and in three years they compete in a production contest with that animal and earn money back.

Ethan Haywood of Hastings, Michigan, purchased the high seller at $6,100. She was D & E Marvel Holly and consigned by D & E Jerseys if Dalhart, Texas. Ben Sauder of Tremont, Illinois and Ryan Lawton of Newark Valley, New York tied at buying the second high sellers as they both purchased heifers for $6,000 each. Sauder purchased Shan-Mar Fastrack Cherita from Mark and Shannon Gardner of Dayton, Pennsylvania while Lawton purchased Hei-Bri Topeka Emporia consigned by Brian and Heidi Lantzky of Hawkeye, Iowa.

The average for the Pot O’ Gold sale was $3,680 on 31 lots with a gross of $114,100.
